Adsorption and Decomposition of NOx on Heteropolyacids: An Evaluation of the Adsorption Performance

In order to develop an efficient method by which eliminate NOx pollution, several new catalyst systems including different heteropolyacids (HPAs) and supported phosphotungstic acids (HPWs) (HPW/SiO2, HPW/SnO2, HPW/USY HPW/ZSM-5) for adsorption-decomposition of were prepared studied. The obtained catalysts characterized using a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) measurement Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis. results showed that W-containing HPAs superior Mo-containing HPAs. Among the selected catalysts, HPW/SnO2 with 50% HPW loading had highest adsorption rate 77.3%, amount saturated (85.4 mg g-1) was much higher than (50.5 g-1). performance mainly determined interaction between support HPW, also affected specific surface area catalyst. FTIR characterization revealed adsorbed existed in bulk phase form NOH+. A gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) used confirm effectiveness NO decomposition into N2.
